Description of PEX-Al-PEX multilayer pipes

Multilayer pipe made up of five layers: two layers, exterior and interior, of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX), a central butt-welded aluminum layer and two intermediate layers of adhesive.

Multilayer pipes are an evolution of cross-linked polyethylene pipes.

Thanks to the incorporation of the aluminum layer, multilayer pipes combine the properties of plastic pipes and the advantages of metallic pipes in the same pipe.

The properties of plastic pipes are as follows:

For its part, the advantages of metal pipes are:

High resistance to pressure.

As we have previously indicated, the material of the inner and outer layers of multilayer pipes is cross-linked polyethylene (PEX).

The advantages of PEX-Al-PEX multilayer pipes compared to other non-crosslinked multilayer pipes are the following:

Greater tightness in the joints. The multilayer pipes made of cross-linked polyethylene in their inner and outer layers guarantee a perfect seal in the pipe-fitting joints, even at high temperatures.
