Submersible pumps find many uses, single stage pumps are used for drainage, sewage pumping, general industrial pumping and pumping of the mixture. Submersible pumps are typically located at the bottom of fuel tanks and are also used for the extraction of water from water wells.

Submersible pumps are also used in fuel tanks. By increasing the pressure at the bottom of the reservoir, the liquid can be raised more easily than by sucking it (suction) from above.
